    1. Good book. After her brother-in-law sold Kit's family company out from under her, with the help of the cut-throat Westlake law firm, Kit needs a new start in her life. A friend has offered her a job with her cupcake business on Sugarberry Island, so off she goes. Morgan Westlake is raising his niece after the deaths of his brother and sister-in-law. He is a lawyer from a well known family, but he has separated himself from them for many reasons. He has come to Sugarberry Island to raise Lilly cl [...]

    2. Kit Bellamy has come to Sugarberry Island to start a new life after the business she loved was sold from under her. Still reeling her life crumbling beneath her, she hopes her new job and life on Sugarberry Island will be just what she needs. What she didn't expect to find was Morgan Westlake. Morgan is now the sole guardian to his niece Lilly after his brother and wife dies a year ago, coming to Sugarberry Island he plans on making a new start away from his overbearing and cold family, what he [...]

    3. Cover & Title - 3 out of 5Favorite Line - "I want to revel in you." & "Who knew guy fairies could be so sexy? Kit said, sending him a fast smile. "oh honey," Franco drawled, "I've know that for years."Favorite character - Dre I did enjoy this book, it was a sweet make you feel good kind of romance. I haven't read the rest in the series and by how much the other ladies are mentioned i felt that i had missed out quite a bit, so i would recommend you read the other two in the series before [...]

    4. Babycakes: Donna KauffmanThis was such a touching, sweet-read that I was longing to wrap up all the characters in a huge hug!Kit Bellamy loses her 4 generation family business to a back-stabbing brother-in-law and her sister when they hire Atlanta's Westlake Law Firm to Sell it out from under her. She is devastated and moves to the small-town of Sugarberry Island to accept a job of manager of a mail-order cupcake business and while there plans to rebuild her life.Morgan Westlake has moved to Sug [...]

    5. “Her whole life had been about peanut pie.” Mamie Sue’s Peanut Pie. Kit’s mother gave birth to her in Mamie Sue’s kitchen between the burlap peanut sacks and the six-burner wedgewood stove. Kit’s grandmother was Mamie, the business had been in her family for years. “So she was having an understandably hard time embracing the idea that the future was going to be all about cupcakes.”Kit begins a new job running the catering and internet order side of a cupcake bakery called Babycak [...]

    6. This book is a heartfelt, warm story about a woman’s journey to find love. Kit has suffered emotionally. She’s experienced loss and feels like her life is going nowhere. She decides to open a bakery, pouring all of her emotions in to a job she loves. When she runs in to the tall dark and handsome lawyer, Morgan, however, everything changes, and she’s caught up in the possibility of a romance. The development of the romance between Kit and Morgan is beautiful. The emotional obstacles that K [...]

    7. Oh my word, this book was ah-mazingly boring! The characters were so one dimensional and unrelatable. And boy, did they ever talk and talk and talk. It got so bad, I found myself skimming through the text with a hope that something - anything - would happen. Thankfully, the book ended before my patience did.I always read on the commute to work. Reading this book made the commute even longer. Next time, I'll pick up a book on watching grass grow. At least, I'll see some action.

    8. This was a wonderful story - not a lot of drama and angst. Even though it was the third in the series, I didn't feel like I was missing anything (I will go back and read the others at some point cause I liked the characters).

    10. This is one of the four books in Donna Kauffman's Cupcake Club series. I have to admit that I have read all four of them in the last four days. Fun stories about a group of people who are all moving to the small island just off the coast Georgia. All of the characters are fun and you feel like you know the entire town before you are down with the series.

    12. 3.5 starsI loves Donna Kauffman titles :)They're not packed full of action sequence after sequence, but more subtle romances, IMO. Everything is thought out , and considered rather then just a h and H meeting and jumping into sex, which automatically leads to ily's and a relationship. In Babycakes, we get the story of two new comers to Sugarberry island, Kit, and Morgan, both going through times of flux and lossd they happen to share a not so happy connectionading along, as they figure out how t [...]

    13. I'm a big fan of romances, but it's become harder and harder to find titles with characters I can relate to, especially in contemporary romance. I have been a big fan of this series, but I'm starting to see a trend in the heroines that has me a little concerned: In the first three novels of this series the women are all highly traumatized in some way and flee to Sugarberry Island to escape and start over. In this particular case, Katherine 'Kit' Bellamy has seen her family company sold with the [...]

    14. I picked this book because after reading the blurb I thought this would be a great, light read and it was. However, I failed to notice that it was the third book of a series. I figured it out while I was reading the book because the author kept giving a lot of back story into the two previous couples. You really don't need to read the two previous books in order to read this one, but the characters involved in those books are very interesting and I'm sure I would have liked reading their stories [...]

    15. Original review posted at chicklitworthreadingKit Bellamy is going through a rough time. She's just had her family business taken away from her…by her sister's husband. And the family home she loved so much, has been lost to the bank. With no job, no home, and now no family, Kit is looking to get out of Atlanta as fast as possible. And re-build her life in Sugarberry Island. In this third installment of the Cupcake Club by Donna Kauffman, the ladies are at it again. Working hard to fix each ot [...]

    16. First, I checked on to make sure this wasn't a series, but it turns out it was. Oops. I had a lot of back-story spoiled for me if I decide to go back and read the previous stories. It didn't tell you unless you clicked on the actual title. I fixed the way the title was listed, but I feel like I suffered a bit because of that. Instead of being happy to see returning characters, I felt like I was playing catch up in a few sections. That's not the authors fault though so I didn't judge her based o [...]

    17. This was a really quick read for me. It was light and fluffy and didn’t take itself too seriously which I appreciated. This was a straight up contemporary romance and from time to time, I eat these up.This book follows Morgan Westlake and Kit Bellamy toward their happy ending. Kit has moved to Sugarberry Island to start fresh. She’s heartbroken because she lost her family pie making business and she’s looking for something to fill up all of the time that she’s got on her hands now that s [...]

    18. I would give this 3 and 1/2 starsSo when I requested this book I did not realize that this was a series, but for the most part it was able to stand alone due to the fact that both the main characters were just moving to Sugarberry Island. It starts out with Kit Bellamy dealing with the loss of her beloved family business of Mamie Sue's Peanut Pie Company due to her greedy sister and brother in-law. You really feel her devastation and guilt in "letting it happen". This will run throughout the enti [...]

    19. Babycakes by Donna KauffmanMorgan Westlake is hoping to get grant money to lead up the sea turtles that he wants to investigate. He, single, is in charge of his neice Lilly as her parents died in a car crash and he's just moved back to Sugarberry Island, Georgia.Good to hear updates on others who live in town: Lani and Baxter's cookbook and other food related escapades are in full swing.Love the scenery and contrast of nature on the island in the descriptions.Kit Bellamy is there to run Babycake [...]

    20. The Cupcake Club makes me want to pack my bags and head to southern Georgia. Where the water is warm and the men are hot.Kit has lost everything, so she takes a chance on a position that a friend thinks she will be perfect for. Turns out she is. Kit jumps at the chance for a huge change in her life, but she really has nothing else to lose. The only reservation she has is the other new person in town, Morgan Westlake. He just happens to be related to the very people who helped ruin her life. Can [...]

    21. I wanted desperately to like this book. It is set in the South, close to where I reside. I knew the locations and wanted to get "lost" in the story. However, I couldn't find much empathy for Kat Bellamy. Her family loss should have made her a stronger romantic heroine, but instead, she comes off needy and a bit whinny. I thought Morgan deserved better. It's Christmas on Georgia's charming Sugarberry Island - and there's no better time to enjoy delicious confectionsd the sweet thrill of falling i [...]

    22. Babycakes byDonna KauffmanMy "in a nutshell" summaryA family business is soldere is a need for starting over!My thoughts after reading this bookBakeries, pies, cupcakes, sugar, an island named Sugarberrywhat's not to love about this book? It's quite yummy!Kit has a family business that has been taken from her. Morgan's family was involved in this. Morgan has a niece who is damaged. They are sort of thrown together on this lovely island. They meet over sea turtles. There are ups and downsanced lot [...]

    23. Again, like my review of the previous book in the series my main two complaints are 1.) the female character's background story is so fucked up and there is absolutely no hellfire brought upon the offenders. Especially when the offenders in question are Kit's brother-in-law and SISTER. And 2.) once again, character brought in out of nowhere. An offhand, easily overlooked sentence with Kit's name does not count as foreshadowing. It's a good thing the books themselves are so good and involve a sub [...]

    24. Where do I find myself an Uncle Hunk? Seriously. Morgan is justs and please! I really really loved his character. From taking on being a single parent to his niece, to standing up to his family, to falling for Kit, everything about him was just wonderful. I want one! I feel we didn't get a whole lot of Kit, but what we did get, I loved. She's pretty awesome and follows in the line of being a great female lead like the others in the series. She fits seamlessly into the Cupcake Club and they welco [...]

    25. I absolutely loved this book. It was the third book of the triology of the cupcake club. Lani Baxter was the founder with Katherine 'Kit' Bellamy as the new member. Kit came from new money. Her great-grandmother started the Mamie Sue's Peanut Pies empire and Kit was the last of the Bellamy women to see it to greatest. Her sister(Trixie) and her brother in law (Teddy) terminated by pie making business and sold the company to Tas-T-Snaks. Kit used all her money to fight the Westlake lawyers in cou [...]

    26. A sweet small town romance is always intriguing - especially one linked to baking - so I could not resist requesting an advanced reading copy of Babycakes on Netgalley. And the book delivered precisely the promise in the title and the cover. When Kit Bellamy runs away from her bad decisions in the city and accepts a job on the small coastal town of SugarBerry, Kit is instantly immersed in the VERY sugar sweet match making exploits of the Cupcake Crew.Every clichéd character and situation is throw [...]

    27. 2.5 StarsThis is the third installment in the Cupcake Club series. While for me it was not as enjoyable as its predecessors, due to its darker themes of family betrayal, it is an entertaining read. It takes place on Sugarberry Island in Georgia. After having her family's business ripped away from her, Kit Bellamy, takes a job on the island to start her life over. Of course the position has to do with bakery that was established in the first book of the series. Morgan Westlake, the male protagoni [...]

    28. Review featured on books-n-kissesWhat an adorable book. The characters of Kit and Morgan are wonderful but it is Lilly that I could not help but fall for. After a bumpy start the couple and Lilly make a delightful family. You can tell when you start this book that it is part of a series and having not read the other two books before it I was a bit confused on who was who but after a while you are able to put the others in the background and what a bunch of characters they are as well. What I enjoy [...]

    29. The similarities between this and Sweet Stuff are legion. The story is sweet and charming but the dialogue between various characters is a little too well-realized and rarely sounds authentic. There is a little more emotional depth here, IMO, but it's not really explored well. The addition of the turtle rescue was pretty dope, though. And again, both Charlotte and Franco, our token characters, are almost nothing more than shoulder angels. In fact, Charlotte, despite being from New Delhi, left Du [...]

    30. 2.5 stars, rounded up to 3Pros:* Morgan's relationship and interactions with Lilly are truly endearing. Thrust into a parent role to a 5-yr old girl might undo some men, but he's not afraid to learn along the way (Googling manicures and braids).* Showing a softer, more emotional side to Dre was very nice.* The turtle rehab facility was awesome.Cons:* Again, the plot was good, but the execution was tiresome. Maybe it's not the right fit for me, but Ms Kauffman habitually waits until the 60% mark [...]
