    1. I hate it when that happens. Two very different MCs + the Outback + ranch life (Australian cowboys, people!) = HOTNESS, right? You’d think, but this was a total FAIL, and I struggled to give it even 2 stars. The writing was choppy, elementary, and formulaic. Some things were described in excruciating detail (what supplies Caine buys at the store, sheep breeding, etc.), but the actual relationship between Caine and Macklin was totally undeveloped and utterly unbelievable. There was no chemistry [...]

    2. Loved this!Inherit the Sky by Ariel Tachna, is the first book in the Lang Downs series. I found a book that I loved and wanted more and more of. It was a book I had as a 3 in my head before I read it. I'm a huge fan of cowboys but sometimes coming out books annoy me and it makes me want to scream because it feels like a waste of time. This book was not one of those though, I did get frustrated, but not in a bad way. This book is no Bareback, this would be more my thing. It had no cheating and the [...]

    3. Ms. Tachna is usually a hit and miss with me. I always enjoy her plots and think she is definitely an eclectic writer but sometimes she writes to much smut for me but even with that, I still always enjoy her stories in some way. This one, however, is probably one of my favorites from her so far. First the plot intrigued me but then the characters won me over. If you're looking for an intense, fast moving, multiple conflict book, you won't find it here. What you will find is great characters, a sl [...]

    4. 4.75 starsA simple story. A beautifully written story. A not-for-every-one story. At least not for those who like drama in their m/m books or want the MCs be 'damaged' to be considered 'real'. Or cheating to be considered 'human' (after all, who never cheated on their significant other?). Instead, in this book, the characters have never been mentally or sexually abused, kidnapped or having PTSD. Nor do they cheat. They're unusual in a sense that their problems are simply having a dead end job, o [...]

    5. This was a pleasant romance. I'm not sure I'd read the next in the series but this one had nice atmosphere. I think I enjoyed it more for the descriptions of the outback. Caine was okay but he seemed to play much younger sometimes than his 32years which didn't work for me. I also didn't really like the nickname that Macklin had for him. I didn't really get angst from this or danger from the hostile neighbor. It was a pretty easy going read with the only drama coming from Macklin wrestling with h [...]

    6. Inherit the Sky is a romance set in the Australian Outback. Caine, an US American, has a problem with stuttering and is stuck in a boring job. His mother inherits a sheep station in Australia and Caine sees the station as a place to start over and continue his great-uncle's work. Caine knows nothing about sheeps and the Outback but he is determined to make the station to his home. To Macklin, the gruff station forman, Caine is a soft American "blow-in" and on top of it openly gay. While Caine ho [...]

    7. One of my favorite movies is The Man From Snowy River so I was so excited about this book.I mean what could be wrong with a yummy smex book with Aussies in the Outback?Well fuck. This was very unsexye romance was forced and unbelievable even ridiculous at times. It got to the point where I spoke out loud to my kindle asking it if it was kidding me.(They say its healthy to talk to yourself, I don't know who "they" are but it doesn't really matter because I was talking to my kindle)Finally the last [...]

    8. 3.75 StarsCaine Neiheisel leaves his dead-end job in Philadelphia for an outback adventure when his mother inherits her uncle's sheep station, Lang Downs, in New South Wales, Australia. Caine's stutter thankfully isn't a problem but his inexperience and sexual preference are. Caine, however, is determined to honor his uncle's vision and legacy by ensuring the ranch's success. No stranger to hard work and persistence, Caine slowly but surely wins the ranch hands over. Unfortunately Macklin Armstr [...]

    9. For me this was more a 2.5. The blurb was misleading for me. The gentle story of Caine and Macklin was nice but not very compelling. I enjoyed reading about Macklin's struggle to come out, and there were times I wanted to tell Caine to stop being so pushy, but mostly I was just waiting for the story to get to the point. The last quarter of the book felt like a big let down.(view spoiler)[ Despite the blurb we only see one man turn against Caine, and even he does an about face so fast it made my [...]

    10. An Australian with an American you can't go wrong(I hope)>>>>UPDATED<<<<<<I loved it!!!! what can I say, gorgeous cover, nice story, very enjoyable indeed. This author did such a great job, I love the the Australian Setting.Caine was the perfect man for Macklin, who was such a charming adorable MC.I could not find anything wrong with this story, for me, it was perfect.

    11. This writer has works magic with her magic book, it is where she excelles. And I want to read EVERYTHING she writes in that❤️In reading this book , I felt like I was taking a slow horseback ride through a ranchd , gosh I was not in the mood for slow.I found a love affair, but, it felt forced romance and lacked chemistry.-So.This book just did not really work well for me. However, the description writing was excellentI love that!.❤️So I have no clue, if I will read the rest of this seies [...]

    12. It was a nice, okay read, nothing remarkable but still able to get me through the end. I liked the setting in Australia. It was good to read a different setting from the USA once in a while. I liked that Caine's stutters to be constant, not suddenly disappear; I liked that it was part of him. I did think he felt a little younger than his said-32-years-old. I liked Macklin just fine, but he didn't really have anything that stood him out from the rest of the 'gruff', 'strong', 'hard-headed', cowbo [...]

    13. It is a sweet, pleasant story, with cowboys, and I love cowboys (Australian cowboys will do, too) :) The beginning of the book was a little rough, both the style and the development of the plot, but later I was drawn in and quite enjoyed it.Caine was such a sweetie, it was impossible not to like him. I liked the other MC, Macklin, a bit less but his motivations were always clear, even though I didn't always approve of them. And sometimes there were wonderful little moments when his feelings for [...]

    15. I really wanted to love this book particularly because it was set in Australia. However, although the potential was there, there was something lacking that prevented me from fully escaping into the world of Lang Downs.I think the author did a great job of describing the locations and environment, giving a real sense of the country where the book is set. There are a lot of references to Australian life and iconic brands which are accurate and fit well. Probably being really picky here but as a NS [...]

    16. What a great read. I loved the characters. I loved the fact that the author had taken the time to get the Australian setting & dialogue (mostly) authentic. I really enjoyed the time the relationship took to develop too. I find that I am much more forgiving when an author tries to give a romantic connection time to develop in a natural way rather than racing to the declarations of everlasting love by the end of the first boink. I think the character of Macklin made for an interesting & di [...]

    17. This is a very light romantic story about a man who decided to change his life and move halfway around the world to run a sheep station in Australia. While this was a good story it was kinda bland for me and just didn't capture my attention.

    18. The MC's annoyed me, the plot was a little uninspired, and the resolution was quick and unsatisfactory.

    19. top2bottomreviews.wordpressWhen Caine Neiheisel’s mother inherits a sheep ranch from her uncle in Australia, Caine instinctively knows this is his chance to have a new start in life. Caine is in his early thirties and has a dead end desk job. He’s has many promotions denied him because of his nervous stuttering. Although he has a handle of it most of the time, whenever he becomes anxious or excited, he can’t control his stutter, causing him to lose many job opportunities for him. In the pa [...]

    20. OverallThis is a light romance that starts off almost unbearably slow, but picks up toward the end. It suffers from a bit of a fascination with the details about sheep farm life and several scenes could have been cut because they did nothing to further the story, but overall it was a fine read. I wasn't particularly invested in the characters or the romance, and my favorite characters were side characters, but it wasn't grueling to read either. Probably worth picking up for readers who like Tach [...]

    21. A man who stutters going into the outback? Rugged, masculine men who are pitted against life's elements, one willing to learn, others unwilling to teach? Are you kidding me?? I AM SO THERE!!I was able to purchase it early :) YAY!!SOLID 4.25 STARS :) I enjoy Ms. Tachna's works, and was not disappointed with this one! It's a contemporary novel set primarily in Australia, where a man who has really nothing to lose decides to take a chance working at his mom's inherited sheep farm in the outback, an [...]

    22. Not a bad book, just kind of lacking any real conflict. Caine is worried about fitting in on the ranch, but he fits in pretty well and easily. As for the romance, Caine is determined to have Mack, and while they are attracted to each other, their issues just kind of replay every time they're together: Mack enjoys the physical interaction, but he's never been in a real relationship and doesn't really know how it works. Caine wants more than a hook-up, he wants a real partnership. This kind of hap [...]

    23. Reviewed on Hearts On Fire heartsonfirereviews I found this to be a nice light romance book set in the Australian Outback. Caine has a problem with stuttering so is stuck in a dead end job and no boyfriend. His mother inherits Lang Downs, a sheep station or ranch in Australia and Caine sees the station as a place to start over and continue his great-uncle's legacy. Caine knows nothing about sheep ranching but what he lacks in knowledge he makes up for in determination. Macklin Armstrong is the b [...]

    24. I would have liked this story more if it hadn't been so 'bloody' boring. (I really didn't need a whole page dedicated to where Caine put his clothes in this room on the station.) All the parts were good but as a whole it was missing something. The underlining interest on Macklin's part was nonexistent, so when it showed itself it felt off. I mean you know there are going to get together but there really wasn't any kind of build up. There was a lot of info on sheep station stuff, but it never was [...]

    25. The worst thing about this book was the romance. Yes, you read that right. I loved everything else, from Caine's humble, sweet, caring character to Macklin's rough, no-fuss demeanor to the amazing description of life in the Australian outback on a sheep farm - it was all lovely and good and wonderful. All but the romance. That felt weird, contrived and in some sections almost unbelievable. The whole top and bottom blah blah got on my nerves, and I hated Macklin's blowing hot and cold, and I hated [...]

    26. Ever since reading theseries, I've had a soft-spot for Aussie M/M cowboy style books. This was a wonderful start to a promising series. When Caine's mother inherits an Australian sheep farm from her uncle, he decides to risk it all and move there. He knows nothing about sheep but is determined to make a go of it. At first, Macklin doesn't know what to make of Cainebut they slowly grow to care for each other and it's pretty damn HOT!!!I loved that both characters are not perfect. Caine stutters an [...]

    27. I really liked this story, it was a simple tale of a man starting over in a new country doing something completely new and wanting to live an open and honest life. That's it really simple and to add a bit of spice he falls for the foreman who is not out at all. This story allows us to watch as these to men figure out what they want from each other and if they can give it. There is the added tension of the ranch hands feel due to the new ownership and the fact Cain knows nothing of sheep farming. [...]

    28. This was good, but ran perilously close to several tropes I hate. (view spoiler)[There was no indication whatsoever (that I could find) of the attraction between the MCs, until one kissed the other. I was startled! For most of the story, if not all of it, Caine felt like he was written as a female character, then a quick find/replace changed the name and pronouns to make her male. And lastly, the lack of condoms is used as the device to extend UST, yet at the end, just because they have made a v [...]

    29. 4.78 : )Excellent story. MCs. Mystery subplot wrapped up a little too quickly, but honestly, it was a minor drawback when the focus was, and should be, on the great characterizations. Caine was a little less rounded, but the stutter worked well. Macklin was swoon worthy. The plot never dragged. I'd love to see more about these two!reread for series
