    1. A wonderfully simple idea, this book features abstract patterns on each facing page. Turn the clear plastic page with its abstract design so that it overlaps the first page and suddenly an animal is revealed. While some of the animals can be guessed from the designs or from the short text, many of them are complete surprises. Children will have to be paying close attention to spot some of the animals like the fish made from the white space on the page and the octopus that floats on another.Spira [...]

    2. A cool way of showing how colors combine and make new shapes. It might work best on a lap, though.AnimalsColors

    3. This is a wonderful picture book that also serves as a seek and find. With each turn of the page you are given an abstract painting, but when you turn over the plastic page you discover a whole new picture! This is a great book for children who are learning to identify animals and can follow along with a book of few words. I would recommend this book for children who are toddlers through kindergarten. There is not a lot of substance to the story itself, but the features in the book are well wort [...]

    4. I like the idea for this book, filled as it is with all sorts of shapes and colors. I also like its interactive nature since readers can flip the acetate pages to add color and reveal something and make readers do a second take. But some of the pages or shapes just didn't mean anything to me at all. Perhaps I need to take another look at what's there, but some pages just left me going, "Hmm" and "Huh?"

    5. The clever use of color prints combined with differently colored acetate pages make this book surprising and engaging. I can see very small children being fascinated in the finding of animals as each page turns. Not really a concept shape book - but definitely good for animals, animal homes, and vision storytimes.

    6. Can you tell what animals you are look at? With the help from the plastic overlay sheets the pictures come into focus.

    7. Acetate inserts printed with abstract shapes transform abstract screen prints into animals, while simultaneously introducing basic color theory.
