    1. 3.5 starsSalty Sky is an interesting thriller about a former DEA pilot whose past comes back to haunt him.20 years ago, DEA pilot Cale Coleman was sent on a mission which resulted in the death of the brother of the boss of major drug cartel; the boss just happened to be Francisco Escobar, nephew of Pablo. 20 years later, Francisco takes advantage of a new treaty between the U.S. and Colombia to come to the United States and seek revenge against Cale and the others who were responsible for his br [...]

    2. I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley to read and reviewSALTY SKY is the first novel written by author Seth Coker, with the story based on four groups of people that for one reason or another happen to be on the North Carolina coast, and focuses on individuals within those groups whose paths cross and merge into a course with destiny moving towards a dangerous situation involving the cartel formerly headed up by Pablo Escobar, which is currently run by his nephew Fr [...]

    3. This book has it all: colorful and real characters, a thriller plot, and a little romance for good measure. There is violence and torture, but it is not too gory. There is love and sex, but it is not too graphic. I had to stay up late to finish it, because the suspense was too much for me to put it down. I loved it!

    4. More like 3 1/2, but the "benefit of the doubt" is given. The book is very exciting at the end, but takes forever to get started. There are three or four subplots that are ultimately woven together, and, for me, it too long to see how they were related. One thread, though interesting, might not have even been needed.

    5. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is an utterly captivating and thrilling story. So intense and well written it pulls you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The characters are edgy and real. A totally enjoyable book.

    6. This book is the first I've read by Seth Coker and I was totally captivated, reading it in one day. Coker does a great job of character development, the storyline flows smoothly, and by the end the reader is cheering on the cowboy. Cale, a widower, retired from the DEA after twenty years as a pilot. On most of the missions he stayed with the helicopter, but on one he was caught in a firefight and killed the brother of a Columbian druglord, Pablo Escobar. Now he flies for himself, operating a pri [...]

    7. Full of action with a twist. A former high profile drug bigshot now deceased. His brother lives by the old code of eye for an eye so some twenty years later he sets his sights on former DEA personnel hell bent on delivering their painful torture and death. Skip to Low Country, insert some goombahs from Brooklyn on their yacht, with some love themselves body builders and a trio of young nurses and then along comes former DEA pilot. Easy to guess where this goes, as the pilot now runs his own char [...]

    8. Reading the first novel by a new author always involves a little trepidation and a lot of hope. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself not wanting to put down Salty Sky by Seth Coker. Thanks to , I won this book in one of their contests. The first few chapters bounced around among several locales and from past to present, but what might at first been confusing soon became clear. A thread of romantic intrigue gave one pause to wonder if it would take the low or high road to climax.Salty Sky wa [...]

    9. Head of Colombian drug cartel seeks revenge against Americans who killed his family 20 years earlier. I ended up skimming through the 2nd half of this book because I just didn't care for the expected brutality that occurred. I was hoping it would be just an old-fashioned murder mystery. I liked the locations where the story took place but just couldn't enjoy the plot. The writing was very good, although at times I wasn't sure who was who and what was going on. But it did make me care and want to [...]

    10. Cale Coleman retired from the DEA lives on the coast in North Carolina running a charter plane service. Coleman gets involved with a group of 20 something nurses and a couple of jersey fellows named Joe and Tony which complicates Cale's mindset. While Cale questions why younger women are attracted to older men a classified case from his DEA days is brought back into the light. Coleman struggles to lend is attention to the girl or possibility of revenge. The author uses great character developmen [...]

    11. What do you get when a retired DEA agent turned charter boat captain crosses paths with the nephew of the biggest Columbian drug lord ever seeking revenge for old greviances ? Throw in batting down the hatches for a pending hurricane and a reunion of childhood friends and things get really crazy.Cale Coleman is retired and just wants to relax, Francisco Escobar plans on growing his family empire and getting even. There's love, life, death, sex, and danger, making the perfect mix for an awesome p [...]

    12. According to the write-up about this book it was suppose to be a high adventure story. This reader found lags between the adventure scenes. I can be a moody reader, so maybe I was hoping for a Steven Berry or Vince Flynn adventure, but this author was not playing in the same ballpark as Berry and Flynn. I will pass the book along to friends who really enjoy "Thrillers." This author did deliver a well rounded story.

    13. A win! After a somewhat slow start the story picked up and kept me interested. Not my typical genre hence the 3 star rating. Guess I'm really not into Colombian drug lords, revenge and brutal murders! I did like the character development and how the subplots eventually came together. Salty Sky is Seth Coker's first book and the future looks bright for him! Will pass this book on to my husband who will love it!

    14. Coker weaves a wonderful tale. At times thrilling, at times humorousentertaining throughout. Looking for a sequel!

    15. Dramatic start. Then 20 years has gone by, and the action has cooled down quite a bit. Oh there is drinking and partying but there is also an old enemy who is out for revenge. Its may not be who you think at first, but the one coming after them is even more dangerous and even more ruthless. He's also had 20 years to get stronger and plan.It was interesting that as the story went along, Cale often thought maybe he was being paranoid about one thing or another. Just about every time though, he was [...]

    16. This book was given to me by Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. This book had the making of an excellent story. I have always loved a good mystery with a dramatic plot. This book began strong and then petered out. The first part of this book was filled with dramatic scenes, the middle of the story was very slow then picked up again towards the end. 20 years has passed since the beginning of the book , and we as readers are to accept that their may be some flashbacks during the 20 year [...]

    17. I liked "Salty Sky" as it kept me wanting to keep reading and reading. The story at times, mostly in the beginning, made me back up and re-read to see exactly who was who. One thing that I thought throughout the book, was: Why did Ashley's friends not have names? All the characters had names including "Jimmy" the dog, who played a minor part. The "friends" were mentioned often, but not by a name. I liked everything about this book and it was a good read.I received this book free from for a hone [...]

    18. I loved Salty Sky. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and up late at night to see what would happen next. All of the characters came to life for me. It was like watching it play across the big screen in my mind. A very well written book will do that! Kudos to Seth Coker on his debut book. I will am looking forward to more books by this author. The only problem that I had is with the formatting of the e-version book. The cover page, and the year that was before and after the prologue was too large [...]

    19. Great read! Excellent mixture of action and character development. Author does a fantastic job of brining you into a setting that is familiar to the senses and injecting it with relatable characters and subplos. I really enjoyed the mixture of fact/fiction around the Cartel- took the legend of Pablo and continued the story in a new way. Looking forward to what's next for this great cast of characters!

    20. Well written story with great characters! This is the kind of book you stay up all night reading. The author does a great job of making you connect with the characters. Cale and Joe are awesome and it's hard not to fall in love with Ashley. The story flows well and seems like it's written by an experienced writer. I was surprised that this is the first book by Seth Coker. Definitely 5 stars. Looking forward to the next one!

    21. Captivating storyline and character development kept me engrossed in this thriller. Coker guides his readers through the settings, truly making you feel like you are on the journey with Cale Coleman. I read this over the course of a couple of evenings, and was nearly impossible to put down. Great debut and would enjoy reading more from this author.

    22. This book is the first I've read by Seth Coker and I was totally captivated. I loved the development of the characters and the way the whole book just flowed. It was a very hard book to put down once I started reading it. The book was full of intrigue, suspense and just the right amount of romance.

    23. This was Seth Coker's first novel and I think he did a great job developing characters. The plot definitely held my attention. I liked the style in which he writes, alternating scenes, storylines and /or point of view each chapter. He brought all the storylines together nicely for the climactic ending. I look forward to more of his work.

    24. This is one of the more original books I have read in some time. The revenge plot mixed with these two distinct groups of folks on a weekend party trip made for a good escapism read. I hope Mr. Coker writes more books as I can see myself reading more from him.Full Review can be found here rescuehumor/2016/02/15

    25. I quite enjoyed reading SALTY SKY. The book takes place 20 years after the retirement of Cale Coleman of the DEA. Cale had been involved in the death of a nephew if drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. and now some Colombians with revenge on their minds are searching for Cale. This is a quick read with some unforgettable characters. Keep writing Seth Coker!

    26. This novel has potential, however I felt it was slow to develop. The finale was somewhat anti-climatic and could have been much more exciting. It is felt that the author could have been given better direction during the editing process.

    27. Great read. Suspenseful, funny, easy to read and hard to put down. Couldn't get enough of Cale, and am keeping my fingers crossed for a sequel.

    28. Had a difficult time getting interested in this book. The first five or so chapters had me considering not finishing the book. Once you get past these chapters, the book becomes much more enjoyable and easier to read.

    29. Enjoyed ReadingThe story was a little slow in its early stages but quickly picked up it's pace.I will read a sequel when released.

    30. Not my type of book.To much volance for me to upsetting. Read some just not my kind of book I am sure some would not agree with me.
