    1. This is a beautifully written, nonfiction, picture book about a day at Butternut Hollow Pond. This would be a great book to read aloud during a science lesson on food chains or a writing lesson on descriptive writing. I haven't seen much like this book in regards to nonfiction children's books.

    2. I loved the pictures in this book! However, this is definitely not a book for a child younger than 6 years of age. Its about the life around the pond and the cycle of life, along with the food chain. Great book for teaching children about the food chain and my children were fascinated by the book. The pictures are done in water color, the text is very educational. Great for our homeschooling family!

    3. Butternut Hollow PondHeinz, Brian Jautiful pictures on a story line that goes through the day showing the hunters and the pray, how they live, die, escape, and survive in a small hollow, in the quiet waters for the pond, lake, and sky.

    4. Written with amazingly beautiful language, this is a book to share with your elementary classroom if you are studying ponds or food chains. Your students will learn about life in the pond, but will be treated with great similies, strong verbs, and wonderful writing.

    5. This is a beautiful depiction of the life cycle around a pond. One of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Just not an unputdownable book.
