    1. American heiress Francesca Winthrop attempts to avoid an arranged marriage to a man she hasn’t met. Never mind that he’s a Duke and will soon arrive for their betrothal festivities. But she doesn’t count on his determination to save his estate with her wealth. Soon she finds herself wed to a stranger and sailing to England. When he gets seasick and she nurses him back to health, she begins to get to know the man beneath the aristocratic surface. And she likes what she sees. So does William [...]

    2. I finished reading 'The Seduction of a Duke' last night, and unfortunately the experience was rather underwhelming. The storyline is a classic one and in the hands of a skilled author can really sparkle and come to life. Alas, 'Seduction' is painfully slow with painful plot devices. We have a newly minted duke- Bedford- who is in desperate need of funds. On the other side of the Atlantic- we have nouveau riche Mama Alva Winthrop who needs her daughter to marry a title for family prestige. Bedfor [...]

    3. American Heiress Francesca Winthrop thought she was in love with Randolph, a barrister in training, but he has been sent across to Germany for his firm and she has not has not had any contact with him for awhile. In the meantime her mother has arranged for her to be married to William Chambers, the Duke of Bedford and he is coming to America to take her back to England as his bride. It is an arrangement that suits both families, the Winthrop’s get a peer in the family and Bedford gets much nee [...]

    4. The Duke was TSTL in the beginning. He wouldn't consummate his marriage because he was worried his wife might be pregnant. The beginning was slow and it was hard to stay interested. The ending was much better. I almost raised my rating because of the ending.

    5. Donna MacMeans does it again! She is a spectacular historical author. This author knows how to put you right in the moment of the story. Must read.

    6. Francesca Winthrop - American heiress, spoiled at first, yet matured William Chambers - passionate, divorced a bitch, sensitive

    7. Let the Games Begin!!Francesca Winthrop an American heiress is a shy young woman who is more of a recluse than a socialite and known as FROSTY FRANNY! With a social climbing maman who will do anything to achieve a title.even sell her daughter to a Duke with empty coffers and a run down estateAll Francesca wants is to marry her true love - Randolph Stockwell a lowly barrister who conveniently was sent to Germany. William Chambers the ninth Duke of Bedford is sacrificing his freedom to marry an he [...]

    8. From the opening pages, I quickly became endeared to the heroine, Francesca, with a nickname of Frosty Franny and Will, the widowed Duke who is in need of a wealthy bride. While the story starts with an arranged marriage, it quickly becomes a story of seduction by Franny. She is following the journal of a courtesan to learn how to seduce her husband. Franny is a quick study and soon has Will's blood boiling, yet he refuses to give in as he believes Franny is hiding a secret. It made me want to s [...]

    9. Duke of Bedford, William Chambers needs to marry an heiress. His father did not take care of the holdings. Francesca Winthrop is very rich, as is her father. She does not want to marry, unless it is Randolph nor does she want to be a duchess. What a story, this is meticulous and is very complicated. The author has done a truly marvelous job of taking all the details and making it into a superb, cohesive, even paced and smooth moving tale. The characters are interesting and believable as is their [...]

    10. I liked the plot of the English aristocrat marrying the wealthy American to restore the heritage depleted by the depredations of his father. I liked the authors attention to detail in describing the characters, settings, and the differences in the two characters backgrounds. I think the misunderstanding between the characters went on a little too long. I liked Francesca's spirit, personality and how she was willing to go after what she wanted. I enjoyed Francesca's several interesting attempts t [...]

    11. I received this book as an ARC. I have not read any of Ms McMeans before and was a little disappointed in this book. I didn’t mind the story line but found the characters wanting a little. The duke I found a little weak ( I prefer my hero to come across a lot stronger ) although they are allowed their weaknesses but I found this duke just didn’t seem to come up to scratch. I did like Franny, I enjoyed the fact that she was willing to do all that was required of her even if she had to make it [...]

    12. As some of the other reviewers mentioned this book did not live up to its potential. The fact that the duke had trust issues and did not believe the heroine when she said that she wasn't pregnant and so did not bed her even though he was supposedly desperately wanted to did not seem realistic. His distrust made him seem like a fool. And then to frustrate me further two-thirds through the book, after she again tells him she isn't pregnant, he suddenly believes her and acts like he had always beli [...]

    13. I liked the characters and set up of this book, but there always a few plot threads not really fleshed out that distract you. There is a lot to be made about Franny's dislike of crowds, but she never confides in this to her husband, so he's left think she's got amazing regal duchess bearing. William's first wife, who is barely referenced if at all in the first book, receives almost no attention. He never explains to Franny why he's so suspicious of her pregnancy, when he could have told her his [...]

    14. The second in the Chambers Trilogy series by Donna MacMeans. Another one than I had high hopes for but it turned out to be rather average and uninspiring. Not horrible though and seems to be liked by other reveiwers.

    15. This was a pretty good book. Enjoyed it and the characters were interesting. Had trouble getting into it at first but then couldn't put it down.

    16. Cute - this was another one of my bargain bin finds - and this was definately a find A cute little period romance that was an entertaining afternoon read.
